In the mid-1990s, she began doing professional dance and performance at Boulder's Dinner Theatre in Colorado and Country Dinner Playhouse. Then, in Minnesota, at a local theater, she was selected to play a role in a mock film documentary on beauty pageants called Drop Dead Gorgeous. Also, she raised Kelly Curtis, Jamie Lee Curtis. Leigh was discovered by actress Norma Shearer and signed a contract to be a part of MGM in the late 1940s. The decade following she was in a variety of well-known films like Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (1960) as well as Living It Up by Martin and Lewis (a 1954 film).
